Legend has it that a young Gallic hunter was giving chase to a deer that he had injured with an arrow. The deer passed near to a lake. The young hunter arrived and saw that the lake was steaming. Curious, he put his hand in and found that the water was warm. Letting the deer go, he undressed, got into the water and on his return cried : «Captain, I’ve discovered the springs of Luxeuil».
